ABATE of Wisconsin is a group that fights for motorcyclist rights and every year, members of the organization gather at the Wisconsin State Capitol building to make their voices heard.
February 13, 2025, the annual event took place and hundreds of bikers met at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel directly across from the Wisconsin State Capitol building. When participants arrived at the hotel, they chatted with other bikers about the current issues within the state relating to motorcycle riders before heading over to the capitol building for meetings.
Each member of ABATE of Wisconsin is assigned to a region based on where they live, and each regional group scheduled meetings during lobby day to meet with their local state representatives and senators to talk about the current issues. The focus this year was making sure that safe, legal and accurate fuels are dispensed to all motorists at all Wisconsin gas stations and the right to repair one’s own motorcycle without having to take it to a specific specialty shop or dealer.
With members coming from across the state and even beyond, it is very important that lobby day is accessible for anyone who would like to attend. Each year, buses from all over the state pick up members to bring them to take part in the day. Hupy and Abraham has sponsored the bus from Southeastern Wisconsin for decades.
Attorney Michael Hupy, firm president of Hupy and Abraham, is passionate about fighting for the rights of motorcycle riders and has been a lifetime member of ABATE of Wisconsin for over 30 years. The firm is always proud to support the goals of ABATE and has a storied history with the organization. ABATE founder Tony Sanfelipo worked at Hupy and Abraham for decades, working closely with Michael Hupy to provide whatever support they could to motorcyclists in Wisconsin and beyond.
Firm Partner Brandon Derry took part in the 2025 ABATE Lobby Day and was on hand to engage in meetings with local legislators and conduct video interviews for Hupy and Abraham’s award-winning Behind the Handlebars series. Attorney Derry is an avid motorcycle rider and is always happy to fight for motorcyclists’ rights, whether it be on the road or after a motorcycle accident. Several firm attorneys are also motorcycle riders and lifetime members of ABATE of Wisconsin as well.
Along with supporting ABATE, Hupy and Abraham has also worked to spread the message of “Watch for Motorcycles” to promote rider awareness and safety. The firm has helped bikers for decades, whether it be by sponsoring events, holding informational speaking engagements or helping injured motorcyclists after an accident.
