On November 9, 2017, Milwaukee nonprofit Neighborhood House held the 27th Annual Harvest of Hope Gala at Discovery World in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. More than 300 people were in attendance, which consisted of a reception, silent and live auctions, and a dinner with program. Hupy and Abraham, S.C. was a sponsor for this event, including Attorneys Tim Schelwat and Jim Shilobrit among the attending employees.
TV personality Mark Baden was the master of ceremonies of the evening, which quickly led into a video presentation about Neighborhood House and what the organization does for the community. A group of Neighborhood House children did a dance performance for attendees, before teenager Lanear Rucker was awarded a scholarship. Rucker grew up at Neighborhood House, having his first encounter there at the age of 1. Afterward, a special address was given by Mohamad Hussin Mohamad Salimbin, a man from Burma who came to the United States in 2014 not being able to speak English. After utilizing the International Learning Center through Neighborhood House, his progress was a clear example of the success the program. Last year’s Harvest of Hope event raised over $160,000, helping Neighborhood House achieve their goal of enriching the community.
For over 70 years, Neighborhood House has been a safe place for families and children to congregate and use resources they need to thrive, and helps more than 3,500 families a year.
Hupy and Abraham is proud to be a supporter of Neighborhood House and the work it does for the Milwaukee area. The firm is committed to doing well by doing good in whatever ways it can.
