COA Youth & Family Centers held its 20th Annual Oscar Gala at the Hilton City Center in Milwaukee on March 4, 2018. Hupy and Abraham was the Rising Star sponsor for the event.
Firm partner Todd Korb attended the annual event along with attorneys Tom Perlberg and Jim Shilobrit. The gala included both silent and live auctions, dinner and a live screening of the Academy Awards. Every year, the Academy selects one nonprofit organization per state to host a screening of the Oscar ceremony, with COA being selected for the past 20 years.
Attorney Michael Hupy and his wife, Suzanne, have been proud supporters of COA and the Oscar gala for many years, with Attorney Hupy serving on the board of directors for COA. Over $177,000 was raised during the course of the night, the most money raised at the event since its inception.
Rising Star awards were given out to two high school students, Ty’Johnna Gardner and Keshawn Williams, who attend COA’s Community Learning Center. The Rising Star award recognizes leadership in academics and extracurricular activities. COA Youth and Family Centers has been a fixture in the Milwaukee area helping many families learn skills to improve their lives. Proceeds from the evening will go directly to COA programs of youth, community and early childhood development.
