The Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee is one of the nation’s oldest legal assistance programs, and helps nearly 8,000 people in the community each year. Staff from the society meets with citizens in ten locations throughout the city, and provides them with resources and other help with a variety of legal topics.
At the 100-year celebration, Kimberly Walker, the Legal Society’s Executive Director, thanked all attendees for realizing the importance of accessible legal representation for every citizen, and how donations and volunteered time from local attorneys ensured the success of the program. Vincent Lyles of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee delivered the keynote speech, and discussed how love is an instrumental part of any structured entity.
Hupy and Abraham, S.C. has been a longtime supporter of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee and other legal assistance programs in southeastern Wisconsin. Firm president Michael Hupy is a principal benefactor of the Milwaukee Justice Center, another program that helps low-income citizens in the area.
